Rachel Castillo

Reflection: This statement by Rachel Castillo is remarkable because she says, “If you do what’s right, if you live the right way, you’ll be taken care of.” so this quote is talking about if we live the right way and do what's right and be a CTR person then you will be taken care of. However, if you don't do what is right and you don’t live the right way then you will not be taken care of. FOr example, if you go to a party and do drugs and do things that you know for a fact you should not be doing then no one will take care of you. Another example is if you are polite and have good manners like holding the door open for someone or saying please and thank you then someone will take care of you. “If you do what’s right, if you live the right way, you’ll be taken care of.”

Neurosurgeon

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of a neurosurgeon is to prevent, diagnose, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders that affect any part of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and the extra cranial cerebrovascular system.

Salary: $609,639.

Education: The education requirements are the following:

1.Earn a Bachelor’s degree

2.Attend Medical School

3.Pass the Medical License Exam

4.Complete an internship and Neurosurgical Residency program

5.Become state  licensed and board certified

Demand: The demand is high for this career because everyone obviously has a nervous system and if anything happens to them whether in the brain or the spinal cord they’ll need someone to help them and treat them which is a neurosurgeon.

Reflection: I would like to be a neurosurgeon because the nervous system is a system in our bodies that has always fascinated me and is very interesting to me. Another reason i would like to become a neurosurgeon is because the demand is high so there will always be something for me to work on which is something i would want in a career. Another thing about being a neurosurgeon is that you get to learn a lot about your nervous system and can help anyone you know with anything about the brain or spinal cord etc.

The Naturopathic Doctor

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the naturopathic doctor are to provide naturopathic treatment using a system of medicine that is based on the healing power of nature. These doctors also identify, diagnose, and treat patients for their conditions and illnesses.

Salary: The salary for the naturopathic doctor is $74,710.

Education: The education requirements are four year bachelor's degree and depending on the state and/or capacity you want to work in it requires a master’s degree and a certification.  

Demand: The demand for the Naturopathic doctor is not as high as might be expected to be because there are other doctors that most people might prefer than a Naturopathic Doctor.

Reflection: I would like to be a Naturopathic Doctor because being in this profession requires to give patients treatment that is more of nature than it is medicine. This to me is very interesting because i haven't seen any treatment like this before from and doctor. I would also like to be a Naturopathic Doctor because there aren't that many that are high in demand so i would like to become one so that i can be one of the few that studied and practices this profession.

Military Medical Career Pathways

Anesthesiologist for the U.S. Army

Duties and Responsibilities:  The duties and responsibilities for the Anesthesiologist for the US Army includes providing anesthesia for the patients who are about to go into surgery and perform staff functions in health supports for commanders at all levels.  

Salary: The salary for this career is  $402,321 annually.

Education:

1. Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited U.S. school.

2. License to practice medicine in the U.S.

3. Completion of at least 1 year of an approved graduate medical education internship

4.  Completion of a anesthesiologist program

5.  Must be between 21 to 42 years of age

6. Must be a U.S. citizen

Demand: The demand for this career is high because there are many patients undergoing surgery due to injuries in the war of for any other reason so the Anesthesiologist will  have to give them anesthesia to be able to go into surgery.

Reflection: I would like to be an Anesthesiologist for the U.S. army because there are many people in the army who need to  undergo surgery due to the war or for any other reason and because of that i would like to be in a career where the patients are ready to go into surgery and prepared for what is about to happen to them. Also, i would like to go into this career because there are many benefits for my family and i medically and financially which will help a lot to support my family while i am away.

“Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for ‘tis better to be alone than be in bad company.”

George Washington

Reflection: This quote by one of the founders of our nation, George Washington, is incredible because it speaks the truth in a very real and sophisticated way. He says that we should only associate or spend time with people of good quality and if you do not know anyone with good quality then stay alone and do not go with people of bad quality. A lot of people know who has good quality and who has bad quality but they still choose to go with the people of bad quality. An example of associating with people of good quality is when someone surrounds themselves with real friends at school who help you with your educational needs and don’t take you or slow you down as you pursue your goal. A example of  spending time with people of bad quality is if you go to a party and everyone is doing drugs and things they are not supposed to be doing. So if a person stays at that party then they are surrounding themselves with people of bad quality knowingly or unknowingly. If you do not know anyone with good quality don’t just go with the people of bad quality, stay alone because it is better to stay alone and wait to find people of good quality than to be impatient and instead go with people who are very bad company. “Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your reputation; for ‘tis better to be alone than in bad company.”

Presidents Day

Presidents Day is a national holiday that is celebrated on every 3rd Monday of February. This holiday was originally established in 1885 in recognition of George Washington. This was traditionally celebrated on February 22nd which was actually George Washington's birthday. Presidents Day today is usually a celebration of all past presidents and the current president. There are a couple of things you can do to celebrate President’s Day one of the many ways to do it is to write a letter to the president. Also many ways to honor Presidents Day is to learn more about the past presidents that were in office and what they did to make America great and how they made a huge impact on our communities. Another way is to maybe if you have the chance to go and visit Mount Rushmore which is a national memorial of four specific presidents who are: Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. How i will celebrate Presidents Day is by trying to learn about the past presidents and their contributions to this nation and how it impacted my community. Presidents Day is a great way to learn and celebrate the contributions of the past and present Presidents.

  

Valentine's Day

The history of Valentine's day is a mystery in our knowledge. Although, we do know that February has been celebrated as a month of romance. We do know that Valentine’s day contains  Christian and Roman ancient traditions. There were multiple people back then who were known as St. Valentine. One in particular is the one that supposedly inspired Valentine’s day and it's meaning. This man was a priest in the third century in Rome. During that time the Emperor decided that single men were better soldiers than men with wives and children. So then he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine thought that this was an act of injustice so he would still perform marriages for the young men who wanted to be married. When the emperor found out about this he demanded that Valentine was to be put to death. There are other stories where Valentine was killed for helping Christian’s escape a Roman prison. Another story which i think is the proper story for this holiday is that Valentine was a prisoner himself and he was the first person to send the first “valentine” greeting to a girl who he fell in love with. Before his death he wrote a letter that signed “From your Valentine”, this is an expression we still use today. All of these stories show some sort of romantic figure that inspires the Valentine's day we celebrate today. Valentine’s day as we know it today is a day of love were couples will celebrate their love for each other and show it through physically, spiritually,and/or emotionally. This holiday is placed on February 14th every year.A lot of people do not really know the history about this Holiday being Valentine’s day and that it may or not be based/inspired by an actual person.

“In life as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalpost are.”

Arnold H. Glasgow

Reflection: This quote really symbolizes what we need in our lives and what we need in our lives are goalposts. He says, “In life as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalposts are.” Goalposts represent the end zone the place that all players are trying to go. Life is a game and we are all playing whether we like it or not. In life we should have goalposts because without goal posts we would not have a reason to be alive or to get up in the mornings out of our bed. An example of having goalposts in our lives is getting up in the morning with excitement and enthusiasm for the day and thinking how am i going to get closer to the goalpost today. A example of not having a goalpost in your life is when a person just stays in bed the whole day not doing anything that whole day and being boring without enthusiasm and excitement. Another reason why we should have goalposts in our lives is because without them we would not go far in life as we would want to. “In life as in football, you won’t go far, unless you know where the goalpost are.”

High School History Teacher

Reflection: The duties and responsibilities for this career includes teaching the students how to critically analyze historical events. Also becoming a high school history teacher they may have to teach other social studies classes such as economics, civics, and just general social studies.

Salary: The median salary for this career is $57,200.

Education: The basic education requirement is a bachelor's degree majoring in history and social studies. Some states require a master's degree. Teaching high school history classes also requires the study of history,economics, education, English, and it is also required to complete a student-teaching internship.

Demand: The demand for this career is high because soon there will be a need for teachers to teach students about social studies.

Reflection: I would like to be a high school history teacher because the social studies subject has also fascinated me with economics and history and civics learning about all different kinds of history in America or other countries and continents. Also being a high school teacher is something i have been thinking about becoming but was not sure about the subject but now that i had this opportunity to think about it i would like to teach history. Also the requirements to become a high school history teacher are not that difficult and this is a career i know for a fact that i can become really good at. The education requirements for this career is a bachelor’s degree and in some states it's a master’s degree. However, i would like to exceed that requirement and go for a higher education so i can be able to teach the students a whole lot better. This career is also beneficial in case i know someone that would like to go to this high school or when/if i have kids that i will be there in that high school when they attend there.

Count Leo Tolstoy

Reflection: This quote by Leo Tolstoy is very true because he says that those who do good are the only ones who actually really live. The people who do bad and horrible things do live but  they don't actually live their life how they are supposed to. A example of actually living by doing good is to do something that you know you should do but nobody has to tell you anything it's just your instinct to go and do the right thing. That is really living your life with goodness. An example of not living because of doing the wrong things is if you are being a CTW person and doing the wrong things in life like drugs, lying, and doing things that you know for a fact you shouldn’t be doing. That is not really living your life how you are actually supposed to. We need to live our lives with goodness and CTR actions that will define us as actually living our lives with goodness in them. Leo Tolstoy says “Only those live who do good”. We should all follow and apply this quote to our lives because if we learn from this quote and then apply it to our lives then we will actually be able to live our lives how we are supposed to with goodness in them and doing the right thing.

“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and i can change that(poverty).It depends upon how much i want to work and i decided that i would change it.”

Dr. Ben Carson

Reflection: This quote from Dr. Ben Carson is amazing because it explains what Ben Carson decided to do in life for himself. He said he was going to get out of poverty and it was his choice to do it. He says that poverty is everyone has choice it is their choice to live in poverty or prosperity. He was born into poverty which is a completely different thing from being born into poverty or choosing to live in poverty. Ben Carson was born in poverty and he decided to get out of it which he very well did. An example of choosing prosperity instead of poverty is to become educated and do not think of school as you have to go to school think about school as you are getting an opportunity to become educated and be successful in life and not live in poverty. Dr. Carson says that to become successful out of poverty like he did is to just become educated and work hard. He also said to do your best and God will do the rest. Which is amazing because when you do do your best and work hard and God will take care of you and get you into prosperity. Another part of this quote is he says he can change whether he lives in poverty or not but it depends on how hard he works. We are able to change the fact if we live in poverty or prosperity but it also depends on how hard we want to work. If your want to slack off and do nothing in school and your life you’re going to live in poverty. However, if you do want to come out of  poverty you need to work really hard to earn it and to accomplish your goal to come out of poverty.Ben Carson hated poverty but he says poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and we can all change that. It depends on how hard we want to work, and we need to decide if we want to change it or not.

“Even if everyone is doing it, WRONG IS NEVER RIGHT.”

Russell M. Nelson

Reflection: This quote by Dr. Russell M. Nelson is incredible because even though he does not go into detail it is pretty self explanatory. He says that even though everyone does something wrong it will never be right. For example, if you go to a party and everyone is smoking and doing drugs and you show up and see everyone doing it doesn’t mean that it's the right thing to do. The right thing to do at that moment is to leave. Do not stay there and join in doing drugs and smoking just because everyone is doing it and because you see everyone doing it does not mean it is the right thing to do. Another example is if you go to school and you have a test for math. Then all of a sudden you notice everyone is cheating to get a perfect score. You don't join in and cheat as well you just do the test with your very best and pass it without cheating. Just because all 25+ students in that class are cheating doesn't mean you should do it as well. They will get their consequences and you will get your reward for not cheating. Doing the right thing always beasts doing the wrong thing. Dr. Russell M. Nelson says,”Even if everyone is doing it, WRONG IS NEVER RIGHT.”
