Reflection:
These 10 commandments show how to be kind and to take responsibility for the things that you do. Each of these commandments have their own meaning and action that are different from each other. The first commandment says to treat earth and everything on it with respect and i think it means to make sure that everything is clean and the community is safe and the earth is in good shape. The second commandment says to stay close to the Great Spirit and this commandment means to stay close the God that you worship or the religion that you are a part of. The third commandment says to respect your fellow beings meaning that we need to respect one another no matter what. The fourth commandment says to work together for the benefit of all mankind and this commandment means to work together as one to protect ourselves as one instead of going to war with each other and going on your own. We need to be together and work together for the good of mankind and the earth as well. The fifth commandment is probably my favorite that says give assistance and kindness wherever needed which to me means that we need to help each other and be kind to each other whenever and wherever it is needed. For example, if someone on the road is trying to push their car out of the road because it work work you do not just go around them you get off and help them no matter what and whenever you see that. Commandment number six says to do what you know to be right which means to do whatever you know what is right like if you know not drinking and doing drugs is the right thing then you don’t do it because it is the right thing to do. The seventh commandment says to look after the mind and body which means to take care of your mind and your body and to not poison it with different things like drugs and other assortments. Commandment number eight says to dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good which i think means that as we work hard in our lives we need to dedicate yourself to the greater good daily. The ninth commandment says to be truthful and honest at all times which is true because you need to tell the truth no matter what and to be honest no matter what. THe final commandment number ten says to take full responsibility for your actions which is really important because in our lives we all do things both bad and good in our lives and it is the right thing to take full responsibility for your actions both good and bad.

“A promise must never be broken.”

Image result for alexander hamilton
Alexander Hamilton

Reflection: Alexander Hamilton says, “A promise must never be broken.” and this is an amazing quote because us being humans we’re not perfect we break items, we break world records, and we break bread at dinner but one thing that you should never ever break in your life is a promise because when you make a promise to somebody then you need to be committed to keeping that promise and never breaking it. An example is if you promise your parents that you will not do drugs at the party you're going to later then you keep that promise and you don't do drugs at that party you commit to not breaking that promise that you tell to your parents. If you break your promise that you made to anyone then you are a really really bad person because breaking a promise from someone is just like telling that person i am not reliable or your can’t depend on me. Alexander Hamilton says, “A promise must never be broken.” we need to keep our promises and be committed to never breaking them.

Henry David Thoreau

Reflection: This quote by Henry David Thoreau is really powerful because he says that goodness is the only investment that never fails. In this quote he is saying that in our lives we making different kinds of investments. For example, investments financially maybe in a new brand coming up or investment in your time for a sport or an extracurricular activity that you may or may not do. However the best kind of investment we can make in our lives and one that never goes wrong is the investment of goodness. An example of investing in goodness is spending your time doing something good to make the community a better place or maybe just in your home when you’re bored because there is “nothing to do” then you can get up and invest in goodness at your home by taking out the trash or washing the dishes or even cleaning your room or kitchen. “My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don't make them because they’re cheap; you don't make them because they’re popular you make them because they’re right.”

Theodore Hesburgh

Reflection: This quote by Theodore Hesburgh is amazing because he talks about why we make decisions in our lives. He says that we do not make them because they are cheap, popular, or easy that we make the decisions in our life because they are right. An example of this is if you're walking into a store and somebody enters before you and you see them accidentally drop their wallet or money. When you see that you need to immediately pick it up and return it to the owner not because it's easy but because it is the right thing to do. After you pick up their belongings and they offer you a reward or some money you don’t take it because you didn’t do that good deed for a reward or money you did that good deed because it was the right thing to do. Doing the right thing is it's own reward. Theodore Hesburgh says “My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.” We all need to learn and apply this quote to all of our lives.

“It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good and unpopular that which is unsound.”(not good)

Image result for Joseph Smith
Joseph Smith

Reflection: This quote by Joseph Smith is incredible because he talks about how we need to focus all of our influence to make things good and sound popular so that everyone can be able to do things that are good and sound. Also Joseph says that we should make unsound meaning not good things unpopular so that people won't do it and make the community bad. An example is if there are people in school or in the community who do drugs then you should focus your influence on making sure that the unsound and bad things become unpopular so people will not do it anymore. Another example includes if there are people who choose the right and do the right things then you should make the ctr actions popular so that all people can do it and make the community a better place. Joseph Smith says “It is our duty to concentrate all influence to make popular that which is sound and good and unpopular that which is unsound” and we need to apply this quote to all of our lives.
School Break Days

Image result for easterImage result for the bean treesThis past week was spring break and it was really fun i went to the beach with some friends. We went to Venice Beach and had a lot of fun but it was really cold which we were not expecting. I also went paint balling with some other friends in
Bellflower and it was really fun. We were there all day but it felt like a short amount of time because of all the fun we were having. Other than having fun with friends there were some days where i was reading my book for class called “The Bean Trees” the story is about a young girl who leaves her town and travels across the country in her car and then while she stops somewhere in Kansas she is joined by an uknown baby that was given to her from some stranger at a diner. I didn’t get a chance to finish the book but i am almost done with it. I also did some homework to catch up with some classes like Great Books and American Literature. Also, i watched some soccer games that were a part of a big championship league which was really good too. Some of my break consisted of taking care of my two younger brothers which was not all that bad because we had some fun together in the house playing video games and watching the soccer games. In the final days of spring break we celebrated Easter by going to my cousins house and having a nice lunch and celebrating the Easter holiday as a family.

“I am not bound to win, but i am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”

Image result for abraham lincoln
Abraham Lincoln

Reflection: This quote by Abraham Lincoln is great because he talks about how it's not about winning it's about doing things in truth with honesty and to stand next to those who do right and to keep standing with that person while he is right. However, if the person you are standing with goes wrong then you need to part from that person. An example can be if you stand with a friend because they are right about doing the right thing like staying in school and doing homework and classwork and behaving well then you stand with him but if that person does drugs then you must leave and not stand with that person because he went wrong and will lead you to a bad path. Another example is maybe you’re the person people are standing with because you are doing right and doing what you are supposed to be doing and not doing the things that you should not be doing like drugs or stealing etc. If you are that person that people are standing with then it is a responsibility for you to keep doing what is right and stay on the right track and not go rogue and do the wrong thing. “I am not bound to win, but i am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.” Learn from this quote and apply it to your lives.

The eyes see for you and helps you be able to see the things in this world and i think that it's a very important job to take care of them and to make sure that they are handled with care which is something that i think i can do.

“Character is higher than intellect.”

Image result for ralph waldo emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Reflection: This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson says that character, who you are is higher than intellect because intellect just shows how you learn and the capacity of that. Character explains who you are and shows what kind of person you are therefore it exceeds intellect. An example is if someone is really smart and has very good intellectual skills but is very selfish and mean and does not really care for anyone is in need for a better character. We all need good character in our lives because character is higher than intellect.
